Statement of Faith

At Sylvan Hills Community Church, we believe that Life Change Happens Here—because where Jesus is, lives are transformed. We believe that faith is more than a belief—it’s a transformed life, and this statement reflects the unshakable truths that guide us as we follow Jesus together.

What denomination are we?

We are an interdenominational church, which simply means we’re not hung up on labels. What matters most is knowing Jesus and following His Word. If you love Jesus and trust the Bible, you’ll feel right at home here.

The Bible

We believe the Bible is God’s perfect Word—our foundation for truth, life, and faith. It tells the greatest story ever: how God loves us, saves us, and calls us to live for Him.

 God the Father
We believe in God the Father, the eternal Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. He is sovereign over all things, perfect in holiness, rich in mercy, and full of steadfast love. From the Father comes the plan of redemption that Jesus accomplished and the Spirit applies. He invites us into a personal relationship with Him through His Son and cares for His children with compassion, wisdom, and grace. 

Jesus

Jesus Christ is the Son of God, the Savior of the world, and the only way to eternal life. He lived a sinless life, died on the cross for our sins, and rose again in victory. One day, He’s coming back, to make all things new.

 The Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God who lives in every believer from the moment of salvation. He convicts, comforts, teaches, and empowers. He gives spiritual gifts that build up the church and produces spiritual fruit that reflects the character of Jesus. The Spirit guides us into truth, strengthens us in weakness, and equips us to live out the mission God has given us. 

Salvation

We believe salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. You can’t earn it, buy it, or be good enough to deserve it. It’s a gift. The moment you trust Jesus as Lord and Savior, your life is changed forever.

The Church

The Church isn’t a building—it’s a family on mission. We exist to go into our community, love people like Jesus, and make disciples. We aren’t here to sit still; we’re here to make an impact. We celebrate life change through baptism and remember Christ’s sacrifice through the Lord’s Supper.

Marriage & Family

God designed marriage as a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman—a picture of Christ’s love for His church. Families matter to God, and we’re here to strengthen marriages, encourage parents, and raise up the next generation to follow Jesus.

Worship

Worship isn’t about a specific style—it’s about lifting up Jesus in everything we do. Whether through singing, serving, giving, or going, our focus is always on bringing glory to Him.

The Mission

Jesus didn’t call us to stay put—He called us to GO. That’s why we’re all about reaching our community and beyond with the Gospel. Whether it’s across the street or around the world, we believe everyone needs Jesus.

The Future

This world isn’t the end of the story. Jesus is coming back, and when He does, every wrong will be made right, every tear will be wiped away, and those who belong to Him will rejoice forever. Until that day, we live on mission—unshaken, unafraid, and full of hope.
